The Heart-Brain Connection:

Impact on Patient Risk and Strategies for Intervention

There is a growing awareness among health professionals treating Cardiac patients that Autonomic Nervous System dysregulation, often referred to as “Stress” reactions, is the third most important risk factor associated with Cardiac events (INTERHEART, 2004).

This Webinar will review:

  1. Evidence that supports the importance of Stress as a top priority in evaluating Cardiac Risk in CR,
  2. Polyvagal Theory as a model of autonomic functioning that highlights the role of heart-brain connection in understanding and reducing this increased risk, and 
  3. Practical suggestions for screening and intervening to reduce these Risks among CR patients
